Member of the bar in Geneva, Maurice Turrettini holds a LLM in Banking Law from Boston University and a law degree from the University of Geneva. A Partner of the law firm Poncet Turrettini, Avocats in Geneva, he is also a member of the board in several companies in the financial sector. Finally, he is Chairman of the Geneva International Motor Show.
Alfredo Piacentini started his financial career in 1986 at Banque Lombard Odier as a financial analyst and fund manager, both in Geneva and London. He subsequently co-founded Banque Syz in 1995.
As a partner and Co-CEO of the Syz Group, he was in charge of private banking, discretionary portfolio management, and Oyster investment funds until 2014, when he left the Group (CHF 33 bn of assets under management).
Alfredo Piacentini was also a board member of Banca Albertini Syz in Milan from 2000 to 2019, acting as Chairman in 2012 and 2013.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva (IUHEI) obtained in 1981.
Jean-Michel Darrois founded the prominent French law firm Darrois Villey Maillot Brochier in 1987. Jean-Michel advises businesses, boards of directors and senior management, as well as high net worth individuals, in major transactions and disputes. He was a member of the Conseil de l’Ordre. He chaired and remains a member of the Company Law Committee of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE). At the request of the French president, he presided over the Darrois Commission on the Reform of Professions in 2008, and was a member of the Attali Commission on Growth. He is a Commander of the Légion d’Honneur.
Rodolfo De Benedetti has worked for Lombard Odier and Shearson Lehman Brothers in the United States. Furthermore, he is Chairman of the Board of Directors and majority co-shareholder of the Italian group CIR, of which he was the CEO for 18 years. He is also Chairman of the Harvard Business School’s European Advisory Board and member of the European Round Table of Industrialists.
He holds a Master’s degree in Political Economy and a master’s degree in Law from the University of Geneva.
An economics and arts graduate, Paolo Luban began his career in finance in 1984 with Bordier & Cie, where he was involved in the European equity markets before taking responsibility in 1989 for the financial and strategic research department. In 1995, he founded Banque SYZ with Eric Syz and Alfredo Piacentini. As a partner and General Manager, he contributed with his macro-economic skills, his ability to develop quantitative models and his knowledge of the asset allocation. In March 2014, he left Banque SYZ to focus on personal projects.
Before co-founding in 2013, with his brother Yoel, the M&A boutique Zaoui & Co, Michael Zaoui was Vice Chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Securities Group.
He began his career in 1978 with Banque Rothschild in Paris and then moved in 1986 to Morgan Stanley in New York where he led some of the Firm’s major transactions on both sides of the Atlantic, including several high profile takeovers. Michael moved to London in 1990 where he was promoted to Managing Director and subsequently Co-Head of European Mergers and Acquisitions.
He holds a diploma from Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris, a Masters in Law from Université de Paris, a DESS doctoral degree in Law from Université Panthéon-Sorbonne, and an MBA from Harvard University. He also completed a post-graduate research program at The London School of Economics.
